Curriculum Overview

At Forest Hill Nature Preschool, the children are taught using a flexible, play-based approach. The
children start their day with circle time, led by their teachers.  During their day, children also have opportunities to learn through play in classroom centers, small group and one-on-one projects and games with their teachers, outside play in our nature playground, songs and literature, crafts
and art exploration, science experiments, cooking projects, and Bible stories.  We believe that providing
a well-rounded day with lots of time for both teacher-led and student-led activities helps your child develop academic concepts in a fun and exciting learning environment.  Curriculum goals for each age group are available for review on our website, and teachers are always happy to answer any questions you may have about your child’s growth and development throughout the year.
We will plan to send home reports about your child’s progress in November, February, and May.
Parent-teacher conferences will be scheduled for all students in early November and in May.

Parents are reminded that Forest Hill Nature Preschool is  a Christian preschool and Kindergarten environment.   The children will be having Bible stories and/or Chapel each week in their classrooms.  They will begin the day with prayer and will pray before eating.  We will talk to your child openly about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.  If your family actively practices another belief system, we respect your choice to do so in your home, but we cannot separate your child from our religious curriculum because it is embedded into each day.  If you have specific questions or concerns about your child’s spiritual education, please talk to your child’s teacher or to Miss Lavonne or Miss Melissa.
