Drop Off & Pick Up Procedures
At the current time, we are permitted to allow parents into the school building for short periods of time (five minutes for drop off, five minutes for pick up). This procedure is in place to limit exposure and protect the students and teachers in the school given the current Covid-19 pandemic. Drop off procedures will vary depending upon where you are dropping off, but here is an overview of the process:
INFANT/TODDLER DROP OFF: Infants and toddlers can be dropped off at the first set of doors in the Advent Lutheran Church building. When you arrive to drop off, please send a message on Brightwheel to your child's teachers and a staff member will be out shortly to assist you.
PRESCHOOL DROP OFF: Kindergarten and Preschool students can be dropped off at the entrance doors around the back of the Advent Lutheran Church building. When you get to the church, follow the parking lot around to the back of the building. Parents can park in front of the school or in the grassy area to the left of the driveway. The children will enter through the glass doors. We are asking that kindergarten students plan to arrive by 8:30 to participate in the academic schedule which starts at 8:30 AM. We ask that preschool students plan to arrive by 9:00 AM. Between 7-9 AM, we will have staff members available at the entrance to assist you with drop off. After 9:00 AM half of the classes will be outside for their scheduled playground times, and it will be more difficult for parents to find them for drop off.
There are some additional procedures in place as part of the drop off routine. Each child arriving will be screened for any signs of illness. A staff member will take your child's temperature and the temperature of the adult walking your child back to class. This is a screening so that we can make sure only children without symptoms enter the school building. We will also ask the parents to answer a series of health questions about your child's current health and any symptoms your child may be experiencing. We have incorporated the health screening questions into our Brightwheel check in process and parents can answer all of the questions electronically. If your child has any symptoms including fever, headache, or tummy troubles, if your child has been exposed to anyone with Covid, or if anyone else in your household is sick, your child will not be able to attend school.
At the end of the day, we are asking parents in the Infant/Toddler program to please send a message in Brightwheel when you arrive for pick up. A staff person will be out with your child shortly. At the Preschool and Kindergarten entrance, the children will be outside most days between 3:00-4:00 PM. Parents arriving during this time do not need to wear masks, but if you arrive at any other time to pick up your child, please be prepared to wear a mask and have your temperature checked at the door. At the end of the day parents will use the QR code scan feature in Brightwheel to check your child out. Please be sure that all people dropping off or picking up your child have access to the Brightwheel app.
