Emergency Situations
As a conscientious childcare provider, we try to be prepared for any emergency situation that may arise during the time your child is in school. The teachers and students will practice emergency drills periodically throughout the year to make sure that the routines are familiar to the children and that the children know and understand that their teachers will help them to be safe. We will practice fire drills, evacuating the children from their outside classroom exit doors to a safe meeting space away from the building. We will practice shelter-in-place drills, helping the children to find a safe place inside to stay with their teachers in case of an outdoor emergency situation. We ask that if you are picking up your child during a drill, please wait until the drill is complete before taking your child.
In the event of an actual emergency, we will follow the same procedures that are practiced during our drills to move the children to a safe location and we will immediately begin contacting parents to advise you of the situation through email and Brightwheel messaging. In the event that our students need to be moved to an alternate location for their safety, the teachers will stay with them at all times and make every attempt to keep the children calm and occupied. We will immediately begin contacting parents to advise you of the situation through email and Brightwheel messaging, asking you to pick up your child as soon as possible. Each building in our program does have an Emergency Preparedness Plan in writing that has been submitted and approved by the MD State Health Department and the Division of Emergency Services. The full version of our plan is available for parents to review in the blue Parent Resource binder that is kept in the front lobby area.
